About Centralized Log Storage
Centralized Log Storage is a unified system for collecting, storing, and retrieving logs across your infrastructure.
Log types
Centralized Log Storage captures two types of logs:
- Audit logs: Automatically generated for requests that change application state (create, update, or delete actions). Each log entry contains contextual information such as user, organization, and request path. Audit logs provide traceability for key operations, detailing who did what, when, and with what effect. Use audit logs to monitor and investigate security-sensitive events.
- General logs: Capture application and system information from across the Chef 360 Platform infrastructure. These logs include application events, system operations, service-level information, stdout/stderr output, and system events. Use general logs to troubleshoot application issues, monitor system health, analyze performance patterns, and understand service behavior across your infrastructure.
Prerequisites
Before you can use Centralized Log Storage, you must enable the log types and log storage during Chef 360 Platform Server installation.
